The Hidden Connection Between Bollywood & Cricket

With every passing day, I am convinced that Bollywood dialogue writers rely on cricket for inspiration. Why do I think so? Take a look at some lines that may have been spoken to cricketers, or on the cricket pitch:

Sehwag’s mother to Sehwag: Main Bhagwan se prarthana karungi ki chakkey mar te hue, tumhare haath na kaampe…

Batsman to umpire who gave him out: Tu ne ungli uthhaney ki zurrat ki? Main tera khoon pee  jaunga…

Bowler to umpire who signalled wide: Yeh haath mujhe de de thakur…

Symond’s to Harbhajan at Bhajji’s wedding: tenu dulha kinne banaya, bhoot nee ke…

Girl friend to Yuvraj: Main tere bachche ki… (Dear reader, at this point, my webmaster stopped me from completing this article. Don’t know why – I was about to complete it by saying ‘maa se dus saal ke baad milungi’.)
