IPL 5 Preview: Delhi Daredevils Vs Deccan Chargers Match 23
Bottom team Deccan Chargers are set to visit the Ferozshah Kotla, on Thursday, April 19, to take on Delhi Daredevils in a match expected to be dominated by the hosts.
DD have been on fire this season thanks to some great buys in the IPL auction; the induction of the likes of Pietersen, Jayawardene and Taylor has made DD the team to beat, this year, after a woeful show during the last two editions of the tournament. The Indian players have also contributed hugely and that has given them the edge.
Nadeem and Irfan Pathan have bolstered the bowling with the former using the bounce at the Wankhede, on Monday, to hand MI their worst defat of the season after they were bowled out for a paltry 92. Pathan has also contributed with the bat and filled the all-rounder slot to perfection. The bowling has benefited from Umesh Yadav’s pace and swing apart from Morne Morkel’s accuracy.
DC are languishing at the bottom of the table thanks to three losses in as many matches. Their batsmen appeared to have settled down, with high scores registered in their last two games, only to watch their rivals chase down sizeable targets. On Tuesday, the DC top order clicked and piled up 196 only to Watch Rajasthan Royals maul their bowlers en route to a great win. Even Dale Steyn was not spared as DC’s bowling weaknesses were laid bare. That said, the batsmen have given a good account of themselves, with Dhawan, Sangakkara and Duminy among the runs against the Royals. DC’s fielding has let them badly and keeper Chipli could be replaced by Parthiv Patel who is the more fluent batsman.
DD’s probable eleven: Ojha, Sehwag, Jayawardene, Pietersen, Taylor, Nagar, Pathan, Agarkar, Yadav, Morkel, Nadeem.
DC’s probable eleven: Sangakkara, Dhawan, Duminy, T Mishra, Jhunjhunwala, Patel, Christian, Sharma, Rajan, Steyn, A Mishra.
