IPL 5 Preview: Delhi Daredevils Vs Pune Warriors Match 27

| April 20, 2012

Delhi Daredevils have emerged as the team to beat with both teir batting and bowling firing to good effect. DD will bak themselves to beat PW whom they host on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the Ferozshah Kotla.

DD’s middle-order is ominously strong with the presence of Pietersen, Jayawardene and Taylor, and Sehwag is also due for a big innings at the top of the order. If anything, DD’s bowling has been equally impressive with Morkel leading the attack with aplomb and the emergence of young spinner Nadeem is the icing on the cake. On the slow turning track at the Kotla, the DD think-tank will be tempted to play Van der Merwe, though it’s hard to see whom they can drop in order to accommodate him, given the limit on the number of overseas players in a side.

PW’s bowling has been remarkable but after their second successive defeat in their last game with CSK, Ganguly will want to see the return of Dinda who was conspicuous by his absence in that game. With Nehra’s experience to fall back on, PW will have the comfort of playing two frontline spinners in Kartik and Sharma. Mathews will fill in the allrounder slot while Samuels has already proved a more than useful with bat and ball alike, thereby justifying Ganguly’s faith in him.

For PW to win the game, they will need a stand-out batting performance. That said, DD’superior firepower with the willow added to home advantage is likely to prove too hot for the Warriors’ comfort.

DD’s probable eleven: Sehwag, Ojha, Pietersen, Jayawardene, Taylor, Nagar, I Pathan, Agarkar, Nadeem, Yadav, M Morkel.

PW’s probable eleven: Uthappa, Ryder, Ganguly, Pandey, Samuels, Smith, Mathews, Dinda, Kartik, Nehra, Sharma.
