EPL Manchester Derby Predictions: City Will Beat United, Say Aguero, Tevez

| April 30, 2012

Manchester City strikers Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez are both confident that their side will not only beat United, in the Manchester derby, on Monday, April 30, 2012, but also go on to lift the premier league crown.

City are currently on 80 points, on the league table, three points behind leaders United, after 35 games. City led the table for much of the early season and at one time were ahead of the Old Trafford side by seven points. Were Man City to win on Monday, they would zoom to the top of the table with a better goal difference of +60 as opposed to United’s +54.

A loss by Man City would virtually end their title campaign while even if they lost Monday’s derby, United could rally to win the title. United have a relatively easier finish to the season, with a home game against Swansea followed by a visit to Sunderland. By contrast, City face the prospect of a visit to Newcastle and a home game against QPR.

Most bookmakers give favourable odds on a Man City win on Monday, as compared with a United triumph. A large number of bookies quote 6/5 on a City win, including bet365, BetFred, totesport, BetVictor, Bluesq, and StanJames, among others. The  most unfavorable quotes on City can be obtained at 32Red who rate a City win, at 11/9.

The relative odds for a United win are roughly estimated at 5/2, and a draw is rated just as likely as a United win.

City crushed United, in the reverse fixture, at old Trafford, on 23rd October, 2012, by a 6-1 score-line,  with Mario Balotelli proving their hero on the day.
