Bookies Favour Chennai to Beat Kolkata in IPL 5 Final

| May 26, 2012

CSK’s ruthless annihilation of DD in the second qualifier on Friday has made them bookies’ favourites to win IPL 5. Barely 24 hours ago, KKR were considered the most likely to win the tournament but they have since been knocked off the perch.

The likes of bet365, totesport, BETFRED, StanJames and Bodog offer 8/11 on a CSK win in the final as opposed to 11/10 quoted the first three, on a KKR win. In fact, StanJames offer even odds on KKR while Bodog quote them at 23/20.

Anybody favouring KKR to win is likely to get the best returns from WBX who quote 29/25 on a KKR victory in the IPL final.

Where the teams perform equally in the eyes of bookies is in the opening partnership. Identical odds of 10/11 are offered for both teams on the top opening partnership. Other bookies such as Bet Victor, William Hill and Paddy Power offer quotes of 5/6.

Despite his century in the game with DD, Murali Vijay is not the most favoured batsman by the bookies; that privilege goes to Hussey who is quoted at 3/1 to emerge the top scorer for CSK, by the likes of bet365, Paddy Power, Ladbrokes and William Hill. Vijay is third in the list after Du Plessis.

Predictably the batsman expected to score the most runs for KKR is skipper Gambhir who attracts odds of 12/5; he is followed in the pecking order by McCullum, Kallis, Bisla, Tiwary and Shakib.
