Olympics 2012 Tennis Draw: Federer, Murray Could Meet in Final

Top seed, Switzerland’s Roger Federer, and third seed, Britain’s Andy Murray, could meet in the final of the London Olympics 2012 Tennis Event, after the players will drawn in opposite halves of the men’s singles draw.

While Federer will start his campaign with a match against Colombia’s Alejandro Falla, while Murray’s opening match will pit him against Switzerland’s Wawrinka. second seed, Serbia’s Novak Djokovic, who is in Murray’s half of the draw, is set to meet Italy’s Fabio Fognini. Djokovic could play Tsonga before the semi-finals, while Murray is likely to play Berdych in the quarter-finals.

In the women’s singles, top seed Belarusian Azarenka is due to play Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu, while defending champion Serna Williams, seeded sixth, will meet Serbia’s Jelena Jankovic. Spain’s Rafael Nadal and Russia’s Elena Dementieva, the defending men’s and women’s singles champions at the Beijing Olympics will both be absent owing to respective injury concerns.
