T20 Champions League 2012: Predictions
Making predictions about sporting outcomes is always fraught with risk. Never more so than in cricket whose glorious uncertainties are part of the game’s fascination for its followers.
And within cricket, predicting the outcome of a T20 game is even more risky, as a game could be turned on its head in just a few overs, thereby causing the predictor to eat crow, with humble pie added for dessert. For instance, who would have dared predict that the West Indies would beat Australia in the semi-finals of the recently concluded T20 World Cup? Or that Sri Lanka would collapse so abjectly whilst chasing a moderate target, in the final, playing in front of a stadium jam-packed with home supporters?

And before the World Cup, there was IPL 5. Who, after the league stage of the tournament, would have dared to bet against Delhi Daredevils beating Kolkata Knight Riders? Who, indeed, would have fancied KKR to beat champions Chennai playing in the latter’s backyard, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium?
But then, the risk factor is what makes the foretelling of the result all the more fascinating. So here I go, risking my neck with my predictions for the ongoing T20 Champions League in South Africa.
